Fernando de Noronha is a Brazilian archipelago, and the easternmost point of the country (except for the tiny rocks named Arquipélago de São Pedro e São Paulo). There is one town on the islands (but we'll refer to it as an island from now on as the other islands are small, uninhabited and insignificant for this article), Vila dos Remédios. As of 2022 it had 3,167 inhabitants. It is part of the state Pernambuco. Fernando de Noronha also governs Arquipélago de São Pedro e São Paulo.
