Pitcairn Island
Pitcairn Island
Pitcairn Island, along with 3 others make up the UK overseas territory Pitcairn Islands. It has 35 inhabitants as of 2023, all on Adamstown, the only town, which is on the only inhabited island, Pitcairn Island. It was first inhabited by mutineers of the HMS Bounty led by Fletcher Christian along with their Tahitian girlfriends and a few other Tahitians who hid there to avoid prosecution. A massacre happened there along with a rape scandal in 2004.
The only way onto Pitcairn Island is by boat, more specifically the supply ship, the Silver Supporter. It takes 32 hours and goes from MANGAREVA!!! which ive actually covered here before! Go check it out! Anyway, 12 passengers are allowed per trip, and there are 6 rooms with each having: 2 beds, plenty of storage room, a private bathroom, and a sitting/office area. There are also 2 other rooms with 1 bed each and that share a bathroom and desk area. Bedsheets and towels are given to everyone, and the entire ship is air conditioned. the ship also has a dining room, a lounge, and smoking is forbidden. The ship has type C and type F outlets. Upon arrival, you'll be given a ride to the island from the ship a bit offshore by a smaller boat.
The island is very rugged and steep, so things such as bike rentals aren't available, so you'll have to walk. However, locals can often give you rides on their quad bikes.
