Yonaguni
Yonaguni is a Japanese island, notable for being the westernmost and having a close proximity to Taiwan (107 kilometers). It is located in the Okinawa islands and as of 2009 it had a population of 1,684 inhabitants. It has 3 main towns, Sonai (the largest, located in the north), Kubura (the second largest, located in the west), and Hikawa (the smallest, located in the south). It is also home to the severely endangered Yonaguni language, which only has 400 speakers left as of 2008.
There are 2 ways to get into Yonaguni.
Yonaguni Airport (IATA: OGN) - There are 1-2 flights to the islands airport daily. One from Ishigaki (30 minutes), and one from Naha (1 hour).
Fukuyama Kaiun - Boats that you can catch from Ishigaki that arrive at Kubura.
There are 9 buses from Sonai to Kubura. Oddly enough, the buses are actually free. There are also 2 taxis, and it takes about an hour to circle the island by car. there are 8 car rentals at the island, 3 in Sonai, 3 at the airport, and 2 in Kubura. There are 3 gas stations on the island, ENEOS, Eneosu Sona Filling Station, and COSMO.

The Yonaguni Monument - A mysterious underwater monument-like formation which origins are debated.
Cape Irizaki - The westernmost point of Japan!
Kuburabari - On this cliff near the northern side of Kubura's port you can view the last sunset in all of Japan!
Hikawahama - A beautiful beach that is the longest on the island! It is shaped like a crescent and located on the south of the island, in front of Hikawa!
Cape Agarizaki - The easternmost point of the island where you can watch the sunrise!

It is highly reccomended to bring cash (Japanese Yen) with you from elsewhere, as many places are cash only, and ATMs might not accept foreign/international cards. There are banks too. You can't exchange currency on the island either. There are plenty of places to buy souvenirs too, like for example the airport shop or a shop called One Mahina.

On Yonaguni, There is a few clinics, a police station and some police boxes, and volunteer firefighters spread out in all 3 villages. The emergency numbers are:

There is 4 and 5G coverage on the island and it has a submarine cable running to it. The cable was laid in 2017.
