Ittoqqortoormiit (pronounced Itto-qoto-mi and also called Scorebysund), is a town of 345 resident (as of 2020) in greenland, more specifically the eastern part where only 5% of the population lives, and it is the most isolated town in greenland locationwise. It is located in the fjord Kangertittivaq (Also called Scoreby Sund, the same as the town but with a space).
There are 2 ways to get into Ittoqqortoormiit.
Nerlerit Inaat - Also called Constable Point (IATA: CNP), this airport is 40 km northwest of Ittoqqortoormiit. You can fly there from Akureyri Airport (IATA: AEY) in Akureyri, Iceland, and to get to Ittoqqortoormiit from Nerlerit Inaat you'll have to ride a helicopter to the town's heliport. You can also ride a boat/snowmobile there from the airport.
Cruises - You can go on a cruise in the summer, although they're very expensive.
In 2025 a decision was made to construct an airport in the town, financed by the Danish state.
The town is small enough to get around by foot. There are no veichle rentals.
Ittoqqortoormiit Museum - Located in the towns previous shop, it features historical costumes, hunting tools, and the towns history.
Take a walk! - The town and the surroundings are really beautiful!
Kayak and Hike - Beware though, it's not illageal per se, but you should DEFINETLY carry a rifle, and you should also hire a local guide to follow you and operate one, or you can do it yourself if you have permits and know how to use it.
Visit the local church! - I don't know if you're allowed in though, but you can watch it.
Watch the northern lights - With basically zero light pollution, it is a fantastic spot for viewing them when they show up!
There are 2 shops in Ittoqqortoormiit.
Pilersuisoq - The local grocery store. It is a state owned chain that exist in all settlements without another one or that are too small for an independant one. Because theres no other, it sells EVERYTHING. Clothes, food, things for your house, hunting equipment, etc. Don't buy too much though, as it is only restocked twice a year. Due to that everything has to shipped in, it is VERY expensive.
Tourist Information Center and Gift Shop - The tourist information center has a gift shop.
They also use they Danish Krone, and it is basically a cash-only society. There is no way to withdraw or exchange money in the town.
There is one place to eat at in Ittoqqortoormiit. It's called Orormersiardarpi Grill Café, which is a local restaurant that serves things such as burgers, hot dogs, fries and soda. Orormersiardarpi actually means "The place to get a bite" in Eastern Greenlandic.
There is one place to sleep at in Ittoqqortoormiit. It's called Ittoqqortoormiit Guest House and has double and single rooms, a kitchen, a living room and an outhouse.

The village has a hospital, a fire station, a police station and a tiny jail which is SO CUTE!

The jail
There is 4G coverage in Ittoqqortoormiit operated by Tusass. Internet in Ittoqqortoormiit has improved greatly thanks to a new satellite station, but the internet there is still sensitive to weather. There is no public Wi-Fi. You will have to buy a Tusass sim card for your phone too.
You should definetly bring sunglasses and sunscreen with you. Every morning, there a patrol to check for and scare away polar bears from the town, especially when kids are going to school. Ittoqqortoormiit is also one of only 3 places that use UTC -01:100 at least some time during the year. Ittoqqortoormiit (during the summer), The Azores (during the winter) and Cape Verde (All year).
